I often see the opposite problem. I’ve had students that I’ve had to say ok, where are you and your thoughts in this paper? Bc it was just all quotes strung together. Though I am happier if they cite them at least.

Came here to say this. Thanks @isanchezprado.bsky.social for the idea. It has been great. Some students still copy generated text by hand. It’s silly and obvious. But most excel in tech free space. Also doing close reading exercises based on @dan-sinnamon.bsky.social and @johannawinant.bsky.social

Hahaha I have had some experiences at RMCLAS that were the far opposite of jr scholars friendly but SECOLAS actually was one of the most lovely ones I’ve been to!
