Yeah replication isn't that bad but performant replication is a pain. Plus UE introduced iris networking which has some quirks to it which took up time, also rewrites tend to introduce rearchitect decisions as you rework the code. So I spent a fair bit of time in networking and learning new systems

Not really. I knew how I wanted the game to look from the very start, so it was very straightforward in that regard. Placing, not just the lights, but all the assets was quite time consuming and boring at times.
