I don’t know. I have mixed feelings about the very idea of Doing Things At Scale. But things keep piling up in files called, like, ~/notebooks/misc-2026/imagery-ideas.md, and to what end?

I’m not saying anything here would be easy. But people have often succeeded at worse ideas. And I just don’t see a lot of credible attempts right now. (Ask me how my last few job interviews have gone, ha ha.) And this isn’t stuff I can do in a home lab.

Difficult to explain in a few words how complacent Google is right now. They’re spending a lot of money on imagery but with some clear misallocations. They’ve transitioned the whole Google Earth product into keep-paying-for-it-but-take-it-for-granted mode. VCs should be lining up to eat that lunch.
