Even when I was watching this as a pre-teen, it just seemed so goofy and low-rent. 'Here's some $5 safety goggles and an old umpire chest protector. Good luck!' 12 year old me wanted to be on American Gladiators so fuckin bad...
Show PostThe way you describe it was half its appeal / charm imo. Just a hair's breadth up from the goofy shit we got into in the neighbourhood, building quarterpipes with stolen plywood and street racing in shopping carts before they had those locks. It was aspirational.
Show PostWe need to bring back American Gladiators. They had an event where the contestant had to try and storm a gunners nest while the Gladiator shot tennis balls at them from a cannon going 75 mph. The announcers laughing at the guy accidentally hitting the trigger of the bazooka is the best.
Show Postand if they don't want to wear plaid shirts then that's fine, all the more for me to wear
Show PostI absolutely love this. He hated that the Trump rally was soliciting his business phone, *so he agreed to go*. That's the kind of vindictive mindset that will get us through this.
