Not a historical accuracy (sorta), but a nerdy one - an episode of Buffy has one of the villains joke they've seen all of Doctor Who, but not Red Dwarf. Even if not all of Red Dwarf was out in the US at that point (I dunno), a teenager could not have seen all of Doctor Who, cause wipes.
