Show PostI guess I'd say of any other one I've watched, it's the one I think looks at the genre and recontextualizes it the most effectively. Scream set the stage for the same thing, but I think Behind the Mask handles it with more emotionality. We get to know Leslie far better than anything in scream.
Show PostA lot of people seem to not like it As a slasher, but I'd argue it builds up to its climax elegantly.
Show PostIt's the one that really got at my brain the most. It sacrifices a lot of the Horror of a slasher for a mockumentary styled movie that really gets at the heart of how scary it is to get close to people. How even the most genuine seeming people can hide their intentions without batting an eye.
Show PostI think of the slasher movies I've watched lately, funnily the one I've ended up liking the most was Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Which, rather than being about the fears of a stranger stalking you, is more about the reality that getting close to someone does not mean you're safe.
