There is a lot going on in this hearing, but this was the most significant moment . . . until Woodward walked it back. Woodward's comment about the trees was in a statement about "multiple facets" to the plan to close the course, including the funding, the seawall, trees.

Woodward again says he doesn't see the point of the questions about the seawall. Judge Reyes: it goes to Plaintiffs' pretext argument. Mr. Lowell, does this go to your pretext argument? Abbe Lowell: it does, your Honor.

Woodward says it's ridiculous that a case about tree removal has turned into— Gets cut off. Judge Reyes: this is not a case about tree removal. The president seems pretty interested in closing this golf course.
