But asking people in crisis to make a distinction like that and to examine word choice isn't reasonable, so we assume the worst and hope for far better. But the reason I talk about my own MH is until we can HAVE the language for these concepts, we're stuck with archaic and imperfect methods.

I wanted to press pause on living until the pain stopped which looks an awful lot like the same thing as self elimination, but it's distinctly NOT. It's wanting a cryogenic option to stop existence to end pain, but it's not a forever desire or mindset so much as desperation to not hurt anymore.
