Me too. I’m getting at least one and often more every single day
Show PostI can no longer cope with the volume of unsolicited phd applications I’m receiving on a weekly basis by email - I hate the idea of people not getting a respectful reply - but I wonder whether AI is driving this massive explosion in requests…
Show PostYes, thanks for the plug Paul! LibrePaper is still pretty new, but IMHO it's already very competitive with overleaf. And everything is totally free, with none of the "advanced" features behind a paywall. Let me know if you try it and run into issues. I'm eager to improve the site!
Show PostAdding Universities to the purview of education has also been significant. My sense is that there is a lack of understanding from DfE about what HE is doing or trying to do. I’ve heard a number of senior people who have been surprised by the hostility to the sector from Labour.
Show PostI think there’s truth in this. My feelings are that under Starmer, Labour never tried to formulate an approach to tackling the UKs problems; their approach was the Tory’s are right, but only we can deliver it. See the OfS, which was designed to troll for culture wars, not act as a regulator.
