On the water storage point, I have wondered why this isn't really a building regs matter? Isn't one obvious way of doing this with a cold water storage tank which was a tradition feature of British plumbing? I think they aren't that popular these days. Should they be compulsory?

I have plenty of sympathy for the idea of vegan pesto but shouldn't there be some sort of law that if you call something "pesto" but its main ingredient isn't olive oil (because you've cut it with rapeseed) & you don't include pine nuts you go to gaol?
