I think I got over my shyness the year I was on swim team. They would only give all us girls one lane for practice in the afternoon (the boys got a bunch of lanes) so we moved to morning practices and had the pool to ourselves. If you didn't shower you reeked of chlorine all day.

We called it Beggar's Night. Some mischief occured in the neighborhood but mostly it was a bonus night of trick-or-treating.

Both sets of my grandparents were over a thousand miles away. Saw them every 3 years. Never got close to them. Some post once asked us to describe our grandmothers. I responded "One was always cooking, the other always cleaning.". My brother agreed. I vowed to be a different kind of grandmother.

PE was mandatory every year in my school, 3 days a week. Heaven forbid us farm kids got all weak 'n' stuff.
