I have frequently had people tell me to use men's bathrooms and not worry because no one will know, and (less often) suggest that I am in no danger because I pass so none of the measures targeting trans people are really about me. I took the OP as a particularly dramatic example of that impulse.

You know that sinking feeling you get when it feels like every choice is humiliating because you're seen as a second class citizen and maybe that's never gonna change? Stifle it. Don't let them see you as small or scared. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being trans.
