Rewatched One Battle After Another and really liked it a lot better the second time around but I had forgotten how targetted I was by the way Leo asks his daughter's friends if "they're cool" and calls everyone "homie". I did nothing to deserve that. Mean spirited and unnecessary.

I have zero disdain for the so-called “performative-male” precisely because it socially signals that (i) they actually like philosophy, or (ii) they want sexual/romantic partners who are turned on by that, and both are indicators of good taste 😎

The “performative-male” thing is very interesting to me because on the one hand yes I want people to read philosophy because they love philosophy, and on the other hand, if someone reads philosophy only because they want to get laid then that’s still a win for philosophy lol
