I agree with Trueman on this. This provides a "middle" option that doesn't sacrifice safety but can cut costs: "AAA bike lane network doesn’t have to be gold plated. He said raised bike lanes are expensive compared to on-road bike lanes with concrete curbs"

We could promote civic engagement in schools allowing students opportunities to attending these sorts of meetings. We as a society do very little to promote civic engagement and I think that is exacerbating many of our current issues. Allow those with affluence to dominate decision making.
