Diaby is better in people's memories than he was on the pitch. When he got a consistent run of games, he was largely inconsistent. 10/10 one week, then would throw in a 3/10. Nowhere near as good as Rice or Odegaard.

I can sort of understand why the ref gave it in real time. I cannot understand how, with the benefit of replays, they can adjudge what Dowman did to have met the threshold of violent conduct as per the rulebook.

You can't tell me what Dowman did was any worse than Luke Shaw's push on Bentacour. One was a red and one was yellow. Neither should be red. It's pathetic. Priorities are all wrong.

At some point in time the world of football decided that a brush of the hand on a face, a slight movement of a head and a littke flick out is considered violent & a 3 match ban. Insanity. For what purpose? Not for the fans, not the good of the game, not player protection, for what?

You can break a players leg with a studs above the ankle late forceful lunge & get the same punishment as a Beckham vs Argentina flick out. You can push a player off the pitch & over the advertising and only get a yellow but touch their face with a little finger and its a red card
