Remarkably gutted about Patrick Stewart. Always strange to feel grief at the loss of a stranger. Rewatched some TNG faves, followed by the marvellous and underrated "Jeffrey" - what a smart, economical actor he was. He just radiated depth, class and bone-dry humour that elevated any project.

My Mum was older than Sir Patrick, but grew up literally just round the corner (maybe 100yds away) from his family in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. She sometimes spoke of her childhood memories of his father’s violence towards his wife and children. Everyone knew.
