A bunch of liberals are quote dunking on this by pointing to the age old cliché "Actually, what causes fascism is not material consitions, but fascists." The liberal does not actually believe this, because if they did, they would simply kill all the fascists and eliminate the problem of fascism.

I wouldn't consider every protectionist reactionary movement fascism, and I don't think the reason is that they like fascism. Rather, it's that the ideologies that are reproduced in the bourgeois media are ones that benefit the bourgeoisie.

I think the central reason liberals don't kill or even really fight the fascists is because they actually kinda like fascism, and believe it can be regulated and reasoned with. They enjoy the treats, and have built an entire mind palace to ward off the pesky realities of their complicity.

And when that happened (Reichstag fire ruling, for example), he removed their authority by forming a people's court to remove "politics" from normal court procedure (as defined by Hitler). He filled it with orthodox Nazi judges. They were responsible for many thousands of death sentences.
