It's worse when you realize that the shitty iteration of AI at the top of each search was not done on accident. Nothing done by AI is by accident, it is all predicated on a larger plan. AI purposely feeds bullshit to the public to find out what level of BS they will swallow. Using it helps them.
Show PostA couple months ago I typed in a word on my Android phone and their AI gave me the spelling and definition on top. Right below it, was Merriam-Webster's spelling and definition, which the AI had just pilfered, word-for-word. Such utility!
Show Post"you mean to tell me that the alchemy machine failed to turn all this random garbage into gold after everything we spent on it and nobody could have seen this coming" -every google shareholder
Show PostIt would be nice if this were treated as a wake up call by Google's leadership, but I hold out little hope for that. When I was a Googler I saw their judgment declining over time until it became purely short-term, follow the fads. I selfishly hope the stock recovers as I divest my employee grants.
Show PostOk great. They tried a new idea and it failed. Can we please remove AI from the Google page and have it go back to being a search engine? Can we try, just once, not to enshittify everything?
