i mean i guess that’s secondary to people who aren’t even using it for work but just straight up talking to chatbots in place of human friends… i just, i have a lot of social anxiety & difficulty connecting my with ppl so i _understand_ where the impulse comes from and that just makes me more sad

i can imagine there’s aspiring indie game devs that are working on a passion project and not really thinking of maximizing profit or not paying benefits, but just want to avoid the effort or interacting with others, “doing it alone” is easier

idk a lot about game dev or about working as a VA or game artist, but it occurred to me that hiring humans isn’t just a financial cost ppl want to cut, it’s also about not needing to network and reach out to other humans and deal with complicated human relations

the other day i was thinking about cases of indie game devs using AI for voice acting and/or art in the games, claiming they can’t afford to hire people for those things, and the argument some people made back at them that there’s early career VAs and artists that work for cheap to build portfolio
